1  What is the UltraShape™ procedure?

The clinically-proven UltraShape ™ procedure is the most widely used non-invasive solution for fat reduction and body contouring. It uses focused ultrasound to target and reduce unwanted localized fat deposits, reduce body circumference and improve body shape.

The UltraShape™ procedure is intended to help average to modestly overweight men and women reduce localized fat deposits around the abdomen, flanks (love handles), hips and thighs. It offers a totally non-invasive, painless no downtime alternative to patients seeking reduced circumference (a slimmer body) and an improved body contour. UltraShape involves no incisions, needles, injections, recovery time or maintenance treatments whatsoever.

Each patient follows a personalized program and undergoes a recommended series of three treatments in order to maximize results.

Clinical studies have shown a measurable reduction in body circumference in most patients, even after a single treatment.

The series of treatments is performed in one-month intervals, giving time for the body's natural metabolic processes to safely clear away the destroyed fat cells. During these intervals, patients can treat other areas of the body and undergo other complementary procedures.

3  What results can I expect?

Clinical results show that in three treatments, patients see an average of 4 cm reduction in circumference. Clinical trials have shown an average of 2 cm reduction in circumference even after a single treatment. A minimum of three treatments is recommended to achieve maximum results. As with any non-invasive procedure the results you see may differ from the clinical trial results.

5. What makes the UltraShape procedure unique?

6. How does the UltraShape™ technology work?

The patented UltraShape™ technology uses a handheld ultrasonic transducer to deliver controlled focused ultrasound at a precise depth within the fat layer. The technology is selective, meaning that only fat cells are broken down and surrounding important structures such as blood vessels nerves and connective tissue remain intact. The treatment area is marked and each point within that designated area is treated only once to ensure complete and uniform treatment.

7. What happens to the fat after the UltraShape™ procedure?

During the UltraShape procedure, the fat cells are disrupted. The fat cell content, primarily comprised of triglycerides, is broken down and transported to the liver. The fat is processed via the body's natural mechanisms and turns into building blocks for energy.

8. What body areas are treated?

A multi-centre controlled clinical trial has demonstrated that the procedure is safe and effective for treating the abdomen, outer thighs (“saddle bags”), and flanks (“love handles").

9. How much does the procedure cost?

The treatment fee is determined by considering the number of desired treatment areas, the size of the treatment area and the number of treatments required to effectively reduce the unwanted fat deposits. The per treatment fee can be as low as CHF 490.- for a single small area or as high as CHF 860.- for larger multiple areas.

10. How long is the procedure?

Dr. Ledermann and you will together identify the desired treatment areas. The number of treatment areas and their size will determine the duration of the treatment, which can last between one to two hours.

11. What happens after treatment?

There is no downtime or recovery time associated with the UltraShape™ procedure. You can resume your daily routine immediately after treatment and there is no need for maintenance treatments. All you need to do is maintain a healthy diet and exercise to maximize results.

12. How long will it take to see results?

After the UltraShape™ procedure, released contents of the broken-down fat cells are naturally cleared by the body over a 2-4 week period. Circumference and fat thickness reduction is usually seen within the first 14 - 28 days post treatment. Maximum results are seen about 28 days post the final treatment.

13. Are there any side effects?

14. Are there people for whom UltraShape™ is not recommended?
